AI automation for Procore

Procore is the project system for many commercial general contractors and larger specialty contractors. The documents pile up fast: specs, drawings, RFIs, submittals, daily logs and change events. Project managers and engineers spend hours finding the right sheet or writing up the same daily report, which is where AI earns its keep.

Procore's AI sits on its Procore Helix intelligence layer. Procore Assist answers questions from specs, RFIs and submittals, and added photo summaries plus Spanish and Polish support in 2025. Procore Agent Builder lets teams create custom agents in plain language, with pre-built ones like the RFI Creation Agent and Daily Log Agent. Procore also has a Zapier app for lighter connections.

Practical automations

Spec and RFI lookups

Let superintendents ask Procore Assist where a requirement is in the specs or whether an RFI already answered it. They confirm against the cited document before acting.

Draft RFIs

Use the RFI Creation Agent to draft RFI wording and pull related documents. The project engineer edits and sends, since RFIs carry contractual weight.

Daily log drafts

Generate daily logs from crew counts, photos and notes with the Daily Log Agent. The superintendent reviews for accuracy on weather, delays and incidents.

Photo progress summaries

Summarize jobsite photos into progress notes for owner meetings. Treat safety observations as prompts for a person to check, not as findings.

Submittal prep

Build a custom agent to compile submittal packages from spec sections. The PM checks every item against the spec before submission.

Bid and project data to reporting

Use Zapier or the Procore API to push project status into a dashboard or CRM so leadership sees backlog without asking PMs.

Commonly connected to

Pitfalls to avoid

  • Sending AI-drafted RFIs or change documents without a PM review, which can create contractual problems.
  • Building custom agents on projects where drawings and specs are not uploaded consistently, so answers are incomplete.
  • Treating AI safety observations from photos as an inspection. A competent person still walks the site.

When not to automate

If your firm runs a handful of small residential jobs, Procore's AI features may be more than you need. If PMs struggle because document control is poor, fix uploads and naming first. And anything with legal or contractual weight, such as notices of delay or change order pricing, stays with a person who has authority to sign.

Common questions

What is Procore Helix?

Procore Helix is Procore's intelligence layer that powers its AI features, including Procore Assist for answering questions from project documents and Procore Agent Builder for creating custom AI agents. Availability can depend on your plan, so check with Procore.

Can Procore AI write RFIs and daily logs?

Procore offers pre-built agents, including an RFI Creation Agent and a Daily Log Agent, which draft content from project documents and jobsite inputs. Treat them as drafts. A project engineer or superintendent reviews before anything is sent or filed.

Should we use Zapier or the Procore API?

Zapier works for light tasks like logging new projects to a sheet or notifying a channel. For financial syncs or anything high-volume, use a Procore Marketplace integration or the API with proper testing and error alerts.
